Near Infrared Spectroscopy expert | Focus on quality and safety agro-food products | | | Prof. Dr. Ana Garrido Varo with a degree in Agriculture Engineering, has more than fifteen years experience in the application of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) to the inspection of the quality and safety agro-food products. She was chairperson of the 11th International NIR Conference, which took place in Córdoba (Spain) in April 2003. She is author of more than 100 publications in national and international journals and three chapters in international NIRS books. She is President of the “Educational Sub-group” of the ICNIRS (International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy) and member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of NIRS. In 2005 she was honoured by the International Council of Near Infrared Spectroscopy with the Tomas Hirschfeld award, one of the most prestigious recognition in the field of Near Infrared Spectroscopy. She also has a large experience in coordination and management of students and teachers mobility in Agriculture, responsible of the ERASMUS program in the Faculty of Agriculture & Forestry Engineering (ETSIAM-UCO 1990 to 94).
