Animal science expert | Focus on welfare of dairy animals but also exotic livestock species | | | David Arney is engaged in education and research in animal science. Principle interests include the welfare of farm animals, in particular dairy animals, but also exotic livestock species; and the nutrition and reproductive behaviour of the dairy cow. Currently involved in projects in these areas. Particularly in relation to the COST project he is involved in a major investigation into the designed improvement in the quality of milk constituents through nutritional manipulation. He has refereed papers for the Journal of Dairy Research, the Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics, the British Journal of Nutrition, the Journal of Animal Science, and for the Estonian Journal of Agricultural Science. Reviewed books for the Journal of Animal Welfare and he has reviewed articles in Proceedings of the ISAH. Have been involved in novel research projects in Hungary, Mongolia, Estonia and the UK.
